Being at the Smithsonian Folk Festival in Washington DC in the early ’70s was a defining experience in my discovery of bluegrass, traditional Americana, and international folk music. Having been exposed to lots of music across many genres, I also love listening to swing, vintage, and gypsy jazz music.

My DJ career began hosting an early, renaissance, and baroque music show at a college radio station in Virginia. I began co-hosting a folk music show on KBCS in 1997. I currently co-host Folksounds.

I also play guitar and banjo with a contra dance band and with various Scandinavian, Celtic, and maritime groups in the Seattle area.
